In November 2025, a one-of-a-kind immersive theatre will open in Budapest. The audience will enjoy an unparalleled experience discovering the magical world of Walk My World, directed by Bence Vági — a 6,000-square-meter space reminiscent of movie sets, inhabited by mythical gods, heroes, and extraordinary creatures. The production interacts with all our senses as an ancient mythical story unfolds before us through the language of dance and contemporary circus in a modern form. Created by the internationally acclaimed Recirquel Company, this monumental and innovative production is unlike anything else: Walk My World is a blend of theatre, exhibition, and an adventure novel brought to life.
After five years of meticulous preparation and more than six months of rehearsals, Europe’s largest immersive theatre production will premiere on 5th November in Budapest, at Millenáris. The breathtaking spectacle is the result of the combined efforts of 150 professionals, among them Hungary’s foremost creative talents — from set designers and architects to visual artists, composers, and stage decorators. The preparation of the 32 performers was supported by international artists, including collaborators from the world-renowned Brazilian dance company Grupo Corpo and acclaimed American choreographer Bill Shannon.
“Since May, we’ve spent thousands of hours in rehearsals, and in October we tested and refined the production through ten preview performances for about 3,000 spectators,” emphasized director Bence Vági, founder and artistic director of Recirquel.
“We have created an immersive theatre experience on a scale and concept comparable only to major artistic centers such as London or New York.”
An up-close experience across 6,000 square meters
Walk My World is a truly unique production: a blend of theatre, exhibition, and an immersive adventure story all at once. Its multi-threaded, constantly evolving story captivates visitors from the very first moment—not only through the events unfolding around them but also through the richness of the space that surrounds them. There is no traditional stage or seating area; instead, spectators move freely through monumental, Hollywood-style environments, experiencing the performance up close and in motion.
It’s entirely up to you to decide where to go, what to discover, whom to follow, whose secret room you peep into and whether you take a sip of the potion left on the table in one of the steamy room
Throughout the two-and-a-half-hour experience, each visitor forges their own journey, choosing which of the 25 mythological characters — gods, mortals, or strange creatures — to follow. Free to explore at their own pace, they decide where to wander, what to discover, whose secret room to glimpse into, and whether to taste the potion left on a table in one of the sultry chambers. Wearing masks throughout the performance — a signature of immersive theatre worldwide — adds to the sense of mystery and voyeurism.
The vast area will include forty separate performance spaces, each fully furnished with sets and more than 10,000 props. Among these spaces will be a grand battlefield with a ceiling height of 15 meters, a bustling marketplace with 25 market carts and booths converted from military trailers, a mystical labyrinth, sanctuaries of the gods and homes of mortals, as well as a military bunker, a field surgeon’s chamber, a chemical laboratory, a perfume vendor’s cart, and a sultry bar. Visitors can touch the personal objects of gods like Cupid, Juno, or Mercury, each telling hidden stories.
The scenography combines contemporary wall art, antiques, and even a giant robot
The film-like experience will be enhanced by a rich material culture featuring numerous custom-made props and set pieces—including a five-meter-tall robot that collaborates with the performers and a bed and a table that lift and float above the ground. Nearly 10,000 props were handpicked from antique dealers and flea markets — a collection spanning 1920s–1970s retro gems, an 1800s Japanese cabinet, and delicate handwritten diaries and letters.
The richness of detail is also reflected in the artistic design of the sets and their connections to contemporary visual and applied arts. The walls of the performance spaces are adorned with unique graphics and wall drawings created by visual artists, while in the introductory area of the production, thirty charcoal drawings bring to life the key moments of the mythological story.
A spectacularly rich fusion of dance and circus artistry
The production comprises 220 scenes and features over 20 circus disciplines, including several rarely seen internationally. Featured elements include a Russian swing that propels artists up to twenty meters forward and ten meters high, hair suspension, solo and duo straps, aerial rope, Chinese pole, Rhönrad, Cyr wheel, ladder juggling, and custom-designed apparatuses developed specifically for Walk My World.
The production also showcases a wide repertoire of dance: alongside ballet and contemporary forms, urban styles and contact improvisation play a key role. The production features highly technical and physically demanding dance and movement styles. Beyond dynamic, acrobatic parkour scenes, a unique highlight will be the appearance of a mythical hero dancing on crutches.
The performers were selected through an extensive international casting process that spanned several months, with artists from four continents coming together. The cast features 32 world-class performers from the worlds of circus and dance.
Walk My World brings to life the tragic love story of Aeneas and Dido, a well-known epic episode by the ancient Roman poet Virgil. The myth is reborn in a modern form, through a unique approach merging mesmerising contemporary circus and dance acts that resonate with all the senses and create a pulsating, sensual world.
Following its premiere on 5th November 2025, Walk My World will be performed five times a week as a resident show at Millenáris Grand Hall (Building B) in Budapest. Tickets are available on the show’s official website.
